Brazil’s disastrous campaign in the 2014 World Cup saw the Brazilian team losing against Germany with a shocking 7-1 loss and everything just fell apart for them when Netherlands came out on top and claimed the 3rd spot after winning 3-1.
The South American country was one of the favorites of lifting the World Cup trophy as the worldwide event was being hosted in a nation were football was more than a sport for them, it’s a religion for many people that live there and to witness their team lose in such a resounding manner was a huge shock.
The disappointing losses led to the national team coach, Felipe Scolari having to step down from his managerial position in the squad as he went on to resign and now Dunga has made his return in charge of the team.
Dunga is no stranger to the international stage as he has already coached the Brazilian national team. The Brazilian manager guided Brazil into the quarter-finals of the 2010 World Cup but after losing against Netherlands, Brazil was eliminated from the tournament. Dunga received heavy criticism for some of his tactical decisions in the team and especially after deciding to not call up Pato or Neymar for the past edition of the competition but he is now back and made his return.
Brazil has a series of friendly matches which are scheduled to be played on September with Colombia and Ecuador being the opponents of the Brazilian’s. It will be the first match of Dunga since he was elected to replace Felipe Scolari.
